Recently I went to my bookshelf to find a book by a black author. There was a ridiculous lack of voices of people of color on my shelf. In an effort to listen more to voices different than mine, I’ll be mainly reading books by black authors for a while. (If you have favorites, please leave them in the comments!)
Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid has been on my list for a while and had been suggested to me multiple times. Now I know why. What a great book!
It covers race and class from multiple perspectives and has characters that make you think a lot about both. I identified with multiple characters as they struggled with identity and how they fit into the world.
As a white woman with privilege, some things this book made me think about were uncomfortable, which is good. I finished this book over a week ago and have been sitting and thinking about it since.
If you want a great read with interesting characters that will challenge your thinking, I highly recommend this book.
