“Circe”

Greek mythology reimagined. Circe by Madeline Miller tells the story of, duh, Circe. Now, if you’re like me and haven’t read The Odyssey in almost 20 years, Circe has an island that Odysseus and his crew visit. Circe turns the men into pigs and Odysseus talks her into turning them back into men.

The book tells her whole story from her childhood on. The beginning seemed slow to me, but once the plot takes off…buckle up. I picked up and put down this book a few times, but after getting about halfway through, I couldn’t stop reading it.

I can see why it won Book of the Month’s book of the year in 2018. If you enjoy fantasy, and bonus if you enjoy mythology (but not necessary to have lots of knowledge, I sure didn’t) pick this one up.
